Has anyone else noticed the unfair dismissal of teams based on who they have played going on in the

I'm not saying there's no merit to the concept that strength of schedule can indicate how good a team really is. But everyone is so hyping the Pats and their opponents thru week 5 have a combined record of 7-16. Yet other teams are being dismissed based on who they have played. Shouldn't they play someone over .500 and win before everyone starts to crown them?

The season is still young and most teams are still trying to find an identity for themselves. After Thanksgiving, you could make a better judgment as far as which teams got an easy schedule and those who had a more difficult one. The Pats play in a divsion where they'll likely go 6-0 and the Colts will probably lose one game within their division because every team in the division is winning.

Your assessment has merit, but it's still too early to truly judge who the contenders and the pretenders are in general.

Not just won all the games they have played, but dominated. Some people watch the games, and it's not hard to see how good they are.
Ahh, i thought you were talking about the Steelers.
Thank You. The Cowboys opponents are even more pathetic, two teams they have played are 0-5. Their opponents combined record including the Bills tonight is 6-18, yet they are being called a powerhouse. I guess things will sort themselves out better in the next few weeks.
The NFL isn't like college. Strength of schedule, and who you have played doesn't matter at all. It's just something for the talk radio guys to talk about. By the end of the season, every team will have played sixteen NFL teams and they will rank you based on record.
well, pats have 3 of the last 7 superbowl titles with these same core of players and same head coach, so they really dont need to prove as much as other teams...
Your statistics lie. Granted the record of the Pats opponents is 7- 16 BUT 5 of the 16 losses were to the Pats themselves. Put another way, nearly one third of the 16 total losses was to attributable to the Pats. If the opponents had played a team other than the Pats, the record would almost certainly improve.
